Compare by lines or by words
Line mode treats each line as a unit — the usual way to review code, lists or documents with many paragraphs, because it shows which whole lines changed. Word mode highlights changes inside a sentence, which is what you need when reviewing edited writing.
Options to ignore unimportant changes
Not every change matters. If you only care about content, you can ignore differences in letter case or extra spaces and tabs, which often appear when copying text from a PDF or another program.
